Summary

 

During our two trips, we covered the roads as indicated on the following map.  The trip in July covered 4,986 miles.  The August trip was 5,448 miles.

 

 

The drought monitor map continues to show further deterioration as shown below as of August 14th.

 

The ProFarmer Crop tour will begin on August 20th and upon its conclusion, we should have a much better view of the damage to the corn and soybean crops.


 

 

Pro Farmer 2012 Crop Tour Results  - August 24th

 

Results are in from the 2012 Pro Farmer Crop Tour. It was the first time in 19 years of the Crop Tour that combines were seen harvesting either corn or soybeans thanks to the conditions caused by drought. Here is the bad news:

State results as reported each day from the Crop Tour are shown in the following table.

With corn and soybean carryover at record low levels, price pressure will ration demand for acres next year. Prices for both corn and soybeans are shown below. Note that there was little to no downward movement as the crop tour progressed.
